What’s a cultural tradition from another country that you wish existed in yours?

Fika is not on the go. You sit down. It is centered around a little light, comfortable seating, and a warm atmosphere.
Fika always includes pastries, such as a cinnamon roll and coffee. It is a social connection, but you can Fika alone to clear your mind or meditate. It is usually a social event. It is usually time to catch up with friends or brainstorm with colleagues or meet someone new, without the pressure of lunch or dinner.
Around 10AM and again at 3PM, Fika is usually built into the work day schedule. Management and staff sit together at the same table, leveling the corporate hierarchy. Studies show that these structural pauses don’t hurt productivity. They actually help create problem solving and prevent burn out, by giving your brain a rhythmic reset during the day.
It is the perfect antidote to a fast-paced environment and replaces the hustle with a deliberate comfort and community. I wish they would do this in America. We sure could use a little more Fika. Thank you for reading. Have a great night.
Yes, such a delightful tradition of a coffee break! Sounds good for people to catch up over coffee and pastries and connect in a relaxed environment… Thank you for sharing your interesting post. 👍
