Salad and music

This salad was definitely one for the books. With the piece of tomato, cucumber, romaine, with rosemary, garlic, and purple cabbage. It was definitely delightful.

As far as jobs, I have done my fair amount of work. I started when I was 19 years old. I worked at the Blake Foundation doing janitorial work. I wanted to work with kids, so I guess this was close enough. I got paid to wash dishes and clean equipment, such as bicycles and three wheelers. I cleaned mats and windows, too. I also swept the outside patio. Then, they hired me to do some clerical work, such as filing, printing, and answering phones. All, this time, I was going for my bachelor’s in social work. Once I received my bachelor’s, I worked in the traumatic brain injury program as a service coordinator. I would provide a link between families and service providers, such as vocational rehabilitation. I worked at Americorps for two years and did my term of service, where I got paid through Americorps and volunteered at an organization. The first year, I volunteered at The Shalom house and would play games with the children there. I had to do a 1,500 hours to get the full education award of $5 thousand. There were plenty of hours to do there. In the second year, I worked at the youth volunteer corps. We would provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for youth, such as working with kids and painting murals. Things of that nature.

After that, I worked as a teacher’s aide for years and worked with a teacher who worked with children with special needs. We would run the classroom by making the children read, do math and science, and learn about work activities, such as going into the community and bus tables at Franks restaurant. We would teach the children how to cook, and go shopping too. Then, my current job is doordash, which is delivering food and other items to customers.

But music always looms in the distance, like a distant light. I always do open mics whenever I can because this is what I want to do all the time. Maybe i can get my chance one of these days. Thank you for reading.
