Gym buff in another life

Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.

A long time ago, when I was in college for my bachelor’s in Social work. I was going to Arizona State University for social workers in Tucson AZ. It was spring break and I had a wild plan to go to Los Angeles, just to chill. So I drove from Tucson AZ to Los Angeles California.

Back then, I was a huge gym buff. I would go to Gold’s gym almost everyday. I got a card to use the Gold’s gym in Los Angeles California. I ended up at the Gold’s gym in Hollywood California.

I checked into the Days inn and the next day, I went to Gold’s gym. Figure I was in good shape, but most of the guys there were in awesome shape. They were huge with big muscles and six packs for stomachs.

Figure, I am disabled working out with one arm, lifting dumbbells with only my right hand, which is embarrassing. All the guys there would work out both arms and their legs ,or whatever muscle group they felt like working out that day.

So you can say I felt really out of place there, so thank God I only went there for a weekend because everyone there would look at me weird. So this is the time I felt out of place thank you for reading.

The trait I value

What’s the trait you value most about yourself?

The trait I value the most about myself is the ability to bounce back from tough situations, which is called resilience. I was shot in the head by my cousin, lost my left arm, and walk with a limp, have a brain injury but yet I am still here because of God and my resilience.

A lot of people would have committed suicide if they were me, but not me sure there are times when I get depressed but I never go through with suicide because there has to be somewhere a better life for me. Plus it is chicken crap to commit suicide.

My love of God and my resilience will not let me commit suicide even though I have been going through a lot of challenges. I won’t give up. I need to bounce back and make a tough life into a piece of cake and be a truly resilient, which I know I can.

On a cold and windy night.

The family and I drove from Tucson AZ to Ariviapia. We arrived there around 6 o’clock PM.

There was a huge party at my grandma’s house everyone was there my aunts, uncles and cousins were there. I went searching the party for my favorite cousin he was not there. Gotta phone call, he told me to come over to play monopoly with him and his cousins. I begged my dad to take me there and he agreed.

When we arrived my cousin was standing outside in the cold. I waved goodbye to my dad and approached my cousin. My dad had taken off. As I approached him he told me he wanted to take me down to the river to shoot guns up in the air. I told him, “No,” but he kept bugging me so I gave in.

We grabbed two beers from his father’s stash and drank them. Then, we went to his cousins house and smoked some weed. Went back to his house grabbed a 22 caliber riffle and a four ten shot gun. We were out the door then he said,”I gotta go back inside and get something else. He was out in a flash and we walked down to the river to shoot guns up in the air. As soon as I entered the gate of the river my mind went blank because my cousin shot me in the head.
