Moving on

What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year?

Introduction- in this blog I am going to discuss some positive events that took place in my life over the past year. Many people have had positive events in the past year. I have had a few.

Moving

I finally moved out of a place I had been living in for almost a decade. It was alright I guess. I had more privacy there. I could drum freely at my old place. My new place is all right. I just cannot make too much noise here. I have to drum very quietly here. It is smaller but there is charm too. My new apartment is pricier than my old one was, but my new apartment can heat up quicker, which is fantastic for the winter. I like it here at my new apartment. It is pretty good. I have some good neighbors. So I am happy I moved here.

Job

I am very happy that I still have a job with Doordash because now I can afford to pay for the car I drive. I still have money left over to get something to eat so it is great.

Bills

I am thankful that I can pay my bills and I am not on the streets of Tucson. I am disabled so that would be a horrible place to be.

God

Another positive event is that I am closer with God and can rely on him to take care of me whenever I need him too. I pray everyday that he gives me the strength to make this life work for me the best he can.

Jetpack

Another positive thing is that I found a community of other writers like me to share my thoughts with. All of you people are awesome. Thank you for reading all my posts.

In conclusion- the positive events that have taken place in my life over the past year are moving, job, bills, God, and jetpack. Thank you again for reading.

Music is for the soul.

If you didn’t need sleep, what would you do with all the extra time?

Introduction- in this world of ever changing landscapes, what would I do with the extra time if I didn’t need to sleep? As it is right now due to my injury I get between 8 and 9 hours of sleep a night, but if I didn’t need to sleep.

I would play more music every day. I would play my drums and sing more. I would probably be able to write more too. Writing is a great escape for me from my real life. So I would probably spend a good chunk of time writing.

Then I would have more time to explore going to open mics and play the music I wrote. I would also have more time to get the songs in my head. I would not have to go up there with a pad of paper and read the lyrics off the pad of paper.

In conclusion-I would play music, which consists of my drums and me singing. Then I would spend a good chunk, writing lyrics or just writing period. Then I would be able to explore going to open mics more, which is where I can sing and play shaker for a crowd of people. They are always a good time. Thank you for reading.

3 favorite meals

The top food plate is a salad topped with chicken. It was perfect for the day. The next picture below is Tikka Masala served with rice and some non bread, which was delicious. The picture below is a picture of my all time favorite food Salad.

What are your family’s top 3 favorite meals?

Introduction-I will discuss with you my family’s top 3 favorite meals. I eat very healthy because I am disabled and do not want other problems, such as diabetes, cancer, even though I cannot stop the inevitable. I can sure delay it from happening to me sooner. So I eat a salad every day because it helps with digestion.

My first favorite meal is salads. I love salads with broccoli, romaine, cauliflower, tomatoes, spinach, kale, purple cabbage, carrots, sprinkled with lemon and lime juice. This type of salad is the one I eat every day.

My second favorite meal is Food from India. Their curries and potato dishes are very good. Also the Tandori Chicken is awesome too. Tikka Masala is one of my favorite dishes that they make. It is so good. Tikka Masala has to be my second favorite meal.

My third favorite meal is Suchi. Like I said in other posts, Eel is my favorite roll that the Japanese make. Also nigari is very good also. But my favorite meal is the Catapilar roll, which is Eel wrapped with avocado covered with Eel sauce. It is so good.

In conclusion-my top three favorite meals are salad, Tikka Masala, and a Catapilar roll, now that is good eating. Thank you for reading. Happy Thanksgiving.

Competency

What’s the first impression you want to give people?

Introduction-Today I will discuss what first impression I want to give to people.

I do not look that competent because I am disabled. I walk with a gimp and my left arm does not function like my right arm. What I hope is that people hear me speak because then they can make an assessment that I am not developmentally delayed and that is golden when that happens. There is nothing wrong with being developmentally delayed, it is just that I am not developmentally delayed. I was not born with this disability. I was made this way by being shot in the head with a gun.

First impressions are always important. It lets people decide whether this person is competent, or capable, can help them and listen to them. Also the strengths of the person. Also it helps to dress successfully. Be honest, good eye contact, pay attention to just them and that gives them a really clear sense of the impression I want to give them. Make them the center of the universe. Then I give them the best impression.

Final thoughts- when people see me walking they usually presume this person is developmentally delayed. As soon as I open my mouth, then they hopefully presume I am smarter than I look. First impressions are everything if I can start holding a conversation with them they will not assume I am developmentally delayed. There is nothing wrong with being developmentally delayed, it is just that I am not developmentally delayed. So if I can validate to the person that I am listening to them and I genuinely care about them. They won’t assume I am developmentally delayed and I will leave a good impression on the person. My love Darcy

Name the most expensive personal item you’ve ever purchased (not your home or car).

Everyone has expensive items that they own. They may own computers, jewelry, clothes, like a suit or a tuxedo. The most expensive thing I own is my drum set Darcy. I named her that because of the D for Darcy, which there is a d for Drum set. So she is Darcy the drum set.

She helps me relieve a lot of my anger, without her I would have serious anger issues. Since I have her I am more relaxed and can ease my tension.

In conclusion, my drum set Darcy is the most expensive thing I own. It has gotten me through a lot of pain and anger. Thank you for reading.

Hopefully more music, more writing

What will your life be like in three years?

What will my life be like in three years. Hopefully by then, I am making music with people, who play bass and guitar because I am a drummer and I also do a little singing and I write lyrics. Hopefully, I can do something with my talent because that makes me feel good. I need to put myself out there.

Hopefully I still write and share all my experiences with the friends I have made here. Everyone is so nice that I have talked to. You guys are all wonderful. So I will most likely be writing still on WordPress aka jetpack. It is a great way to communicate with the world.

Hopefully, by then I am able to put my degree to work for me. If I was not disabled it would have worked out for me, but since I am disabled it doesn’t. I need to try anyway to see if something can happen with the degree I received. Back in 2007 it didn’t work out, but now it is a different time, let’s see if it will work. Thank you for reading.

The year I was shot in the head

Is there an age or year of your life you would re-live?

Introduction-many people have a favorite year, where things are going very well. Many people have fond memories of certain years.

If I could re-live any year in my life it would be 1988, when I was 13 years old. That is the year the cousin took me down to the river and shot me in the head.

I would tell him no, I don’t want to go down to the river to shoot guns up in the air to bring in the New Year.

He had a way of pestering me until I gave in, but knowing what I know now, I would be better off walking to my grandma’s house from his house. He always used to cry to get his way, but it would not work now. I would rather have taken a beating by him, than get shot in the head by him. So basically I would not go either I would have called my dad to pick me up or walk to my grandma’s house.

Being shot in the head has its perks, but few, better to be physically normal so I am not limited in what I can do.

In conclusion-if I could re-live any year of my life, it would be when I was shot in the head. It was 1988, when I was 13 years old. It was a long time ago and it still affects me. That year will always resonate in my life forever because I am disabled as a result of that year. If only I could re-live it, I could change my whole life, that would be amazing, but for now just press on and hope for the best. Thank you for reading.

My disability

What’s something you believe everyone should know.

Introduction-there are many types of disabilities, ranging from physical, to mental. My disability is not easily distinguished because people in Tucson don’t even know what I have until I tell them that I was shot in the head.

People are so easy to say I have cerebral palsy, or that I am developmentally delayed without knowing my true diagnosis that I have, which is traumatic brain injury. I wish everyone knew I have a traumatic brain injury because they would not be so easy to judge me. Plus I wish everyone knew I was shot in the head because they would stop guessing what my condition is. If everyone knew what I had, this would make it a little easier to approach me. They would not be scared of me, when I walk with a gimp or have my left arm on my stomach.

In conclusion- I wish everyone knew I was shot in the head and have a traumatic brain injury. This would make my life easier because people look at me very weird when I walk. Thank you for reading.

Three wishes

You have three magic genie wishes, what are you asking for?

If I had three genie wishes:

The first wish would be to make me physically normal, where I could use my left arm again and walk without a gimp. Also, I would not forget things so much,. If only I could be how I used to be when I was 12 years old.

Next wish, would be for a billion dollars because then I could do as I please write all I want. I could play music all I want. I would not have to get up and go to work every night, if I had a billion dollars.

Last wish, to be a professional musician, plus a writer, where I would write my own lyrics and make my own songs, which is what I do, is write lyrics. If only, this would happen. Thank you for reading.

The cousin who shot me in the head.

Describe a family member.

Growing up, when I was very young. He was my best friend. We used to do everything together. Watch movies together, go on hikes together, we used to share our deepest secrets with each other. He also got me in trouble a lot. We used to steal mail, steal from stores, start fires, and also start more fires.

Until, that dreaded day. It was a cold windy night. He said, “Point the gun at my head and press the trigger.” I couldn’t do it, so he took the gun away from me and pointed the gun at my head and it went off. We thought the gun was not loaded.

In conclusion- this man is a monster. He never said he was sorry for what he did to me or gave me any money for my pain and suffering. Like I said in another post, he got away with the whole thing. They let him off the hook. I still cannot believe he just got away with something so awful that affects me so profoundly. Thank you for reading.
