On my own

When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

Introduction; this blog is about the first time I really felt like a grown up. Well, many people develop into a grown up at different times and different places in their lives. It is a matter of taking responsibility for your own life. Being a grown up means not depending on others for your life. You have complete control over your own life and you pay your own bills. You can make decisions for yourself.

When I realized I was a grown up was when I was 23 years old. I moved out of my parents house and rented my own apartment. I paid the rent and the electricity in the apartment. I would also buy my own groceries at Fry’s, so I felt really big. I was in college so I had homework to keep me busy. I also worked at a little daycare doing janitorial work. So I could support myself. So this is the first time I received a taste of being an adult. It was trying sometimes, but I learned I could take care of myself.

In conclusion; people develop at different times and different places, some are late bloomers some develop the skills to adjust to being an adult quickly. They have to survive and be on their own. When I felt like a grown up was when I moved out of my parents house. I rented an apartment and paid my own bills and paid for my own groceries. I had a job and was attending college. It was a happy time. Thank you for reading.
