Follower made a leader

Are you a leader or a follower?

In this blog, I will answer the question am I a leader or a follower. Many people are leaders and followers, but being a follower for me got me in trouble.

I used to follow my cousin into starting fires and stealing mail. Even one time, we stole from a store, before there were cameras. So I was a big follower.

Then, I received the bullet in the head from the cousin. So now I am a leader. I will not let anyone lead me into a troubling situation. I use a powerful tool. It is called abstract thinking.

If someone is going to get me into trouble, I just ask myself a question. What if? If they want me to steal something. I ask myself what If? I get caught by the police and go to jail, not worth it. If I knew about what if, I would have probably not gotten shot in the head. I would have asked myself the question what if I get shot? I would have never agreed to go down to the river with the cousin.

If you have kids, teach them about what if, so they don’t get into trouble. If your children have abstract thinking. It will help them against people trying to get them into trouble. For instance, if they are in school and want to ditch class with a friend. They ask themselves that question, what if. Then they can go through different scenarios in their heads. What if I get caught and have to serve detention or get suspended. So from there they can make a decision to ditch  or not. If, they don’t want detention, they would pass on ditching class.

In conclusion-I am a leader and I use abstract thinking so I don’t get into trouble. By asking myself, what if this or that happens. Then I can make an informed decision to do it or not do it. If it is going to get me into trouble no. Thank you for reading.
