Statute of limitations

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

In this blog, I will discuss, if I had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

In the United States, they have a horrible law that states, if you do not press charges against someone who hurts you within a year or two then you have to live with whatever circumstances they did to you (Statute of limitations).

In my case, it is being shot in the head because my parents and family failed to get me justice within the allotted time I have to live with using one arm and walking with a gimp. Also, having half of the bullet still in my head, which isn’t fair. He has not given me a cent because of this law.

I tried to sue him when I was 17 years old but nothing came of it because he isn’t well off, or has a lot of money. The law firm told me I only had until my 18th birthday to sue him. Well, if he doesn’t have money, he should go to prison for attempted murder right. Yet, we were 13 years old and he lied and said I shot myself in the head, so he just got away with shooting me in the head. That’s bologna.

This law, the statute of limitations I would definitely change because it is not right that I have no justice because my family failed to press charges against the cousin and his family. I have to live with this injury.

Now, if anyone shoots someone in the United States they automatically go to prison. I guess that is a good thing, unless it is self defense.

In conclusion-I would change the statute of limitations because it is not fair that I have to live with this injury (one arm and a limp). It is not fair that I only had a certain amount of time to sue him. I would make the law not even have a statute of limitations because he ruined my life and now I have to pick up the pieces.
