The law I would change.

I was shot in the head by the cousin a long time ago and I haven’t gotten any justice from the injury. He hasn’t paid me or gone to jail for what he did to me.

When I tried to get justice, a long time ago. They told me there was a Statute of limitations, which means within a year, if I did not sue him. The case would be lost and there would be nothing I can do about the case because of the Statute of Limitations. Well, time elapsed because my mom didn’t sue him or his family in the time frame. So, I guess I just live with using one arm and walking with a gimp, while nothing legal ever happened to the cousin.

So if I could change a law, I would get rid of the Statute of Limitations and make it so whenever I am ready to sue him. I can because living life with my left arm, paralysed and walking with a gimp is a hard life. It is not fair that the cousin had no consequences imposed on him. Thank you for reading.

  1. Passing time is an important factor. You did not mention how long ago it was the ‘accident’ or event happened.

In Belgium there are time limitations of 10 and 30 years and for some events no limitations at all, so even it was more than 50 years ago one could sue the person or persons.

In your case it looks like it was a life-threatening case, so it should be able to sue the person your whole life time.
